PANAJI
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Friday said the 'Bal Rath' school bus scheme will be revised in several aspects, including funding to lay greater emphasis on the safety aspect.
Responding to a query raised by a caller during his monthly call-in programme telecast on Panaji Doordarshan, Sawant said the scheme requires modifications.
The comment comes in the backdrop of the accident at Balli on Thursday when a 'Bal Rath' bus turned turtle injuring at least 14 students who were being ferried to a Higher Secondary School in Cuncolim, raising questions over neglect of safety issues.
Changes in laws
Meanwhile, Sawant also reiterated that his government will bring in changes in the law including the Communidade Code and the Land Revenue Code to give a protective cover to houses built on Communidade land.
The issue had shot into prominence recently when dozens of people from Canacona who were issued demolition notices by the local Communidade there approached Sawant to save their homes. The government then decided to step in and work towards saving these structures even to the extent of amending the law.
