The ruling BJP appeared upbeat over the outcome of the election for the post of South Goa ZP Chairperson and vice-Chairperson with party former MP Vinay Tendulkar saying the one extra vote polled by the BJP candidates showed the opposition parties are with the BJP.
Newly-elected South ZP Chairperson Sidharth Gauns Desai expressed satisfaction that the BJP has polled an extra vote from the opposition side. He, however, refused to speculate on the extra vote, saying the election process was conducted by secret ballot. “I cannot comment on the extra vote, but it is a good thing that the opposition member has reposed faith in the BJP”, Desai added.
Former MP Vinay Tendulkar, who was closely monitoring the election outside the ZP office, however, said “That the BJP polled an extra vote only goes to show the opposition party is with the BJP”.
