Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party Supremo’s Ramkrishna Dhavalikar’s support for the track doubling project drew ire from the opposition, with Goa Forward Chief Vijai Sardesai asserting the MGP his making such statements for his survival post-Lok Sabha polls.
In fact, Sardesai asked Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to explain to the people of Goa whether Dhavalikar will remain in his Cabinet after the Lok Sabha polls.
Reacting to Dhavalikar’s comments on the track doubling project, the Goa Forward Chief said the MGP supremo had stated in the presence of TMC Leader Mahua Moitra that the track doubling project is a curse on the people of Goa. “How can Dhavalikar forget the statement he made in the run up to the 2022 Assembly polls. People of Goa know that Dhavalikar is a chameleon, who changes colours and stands”, he said.
He added: “I am given to understand that he has spoken on the track doubling project knowing well that he will be dropped after the LS election and his place may be taken by the MLA who was criticized by Opposition leader Yuri Alemao. I sympathize with Dhavalikar as he is a senior politician. He has to do such a thing not for the MGP but to protect his Cabinet berth. He has to talk since he will not survive. This is a reality."
Saying that no BJP leader is in the position to emphatically foretell Dhavalikar’s future in the Cabinet, Sardesai said Chief Minister Prmaod Sawant should shed light on the continuance of Dhavalikar in the Cabinet.
