GFP dissolves all block committees, cells in major organisational overhaul

PANAJI:

In a major organisational restructuring ahead of the upcoming elections, the Goa Forward Party (GFP) has dissolved all its Block Committees and Cells and announced plans to reconstitute them as part of a statewide revamp aimed at strengthening the party’s grassroots network.

The decision was announced after a State Executive Meeting chaired by GFP President Vijai Sardesai. Addressing the media, GFP General Secretary (Organisation) Durgadas Kamat said all existing Block Committees and Cells have been dissolved as part of a comprehensive organisational overhaul. He said the party will begin reconstituting all 12 Block Committees in the first phase by Goa Statehood Day, describing the exercise as a fresh push to strengthen the party structure across the State. “The restructuring is aimed at building a stronger grassroots presence and preparing the organisation for the upcoming electoral challenges,” Kamat said. The party also announced the launch of the first phase of its statewide membership drive from May 25.

GFP General Secretary Mohandas Lolienkar said the membership campaign is intended to expand the party’s reach and strengthen its organisational base across Goa.

“With elections approaching, the party wants to connect with more people and expand its footprint across the State,” he said. Lolienkar also alleged that some political forces from outside Goa were being brought in to divide votes, adding that the GFP would oppose such attempts.

Party leaders said the organisational revamp reflects GFP’s efforts to rebuild and prepare an election-ready structure rooted in “Goemkarponn” and regional identity.
