Goa plans agri export push; Cashew Board announced

Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Friday chaired a high-level meeting for charting a comprehensive roadmap to boost Goa’s agricultural exports with key discussions centring around APEDA’s support for 18 major product categories and the strengthening of organic certification under the National Programme for Organic Production (NPOP).

In the meeting also attended by Agriculture Minister Ravi Naik, MLAs Premendra Shet and Deviya Rane and other officials, the CM also announced setting up a dedicated cashew board and revision benefits for Goan farmers.

"Goa proudly stands as a naturally organic state and is set to form a dedicated cashew board to further boost agriculture" Sawant said urging all stakeholders to come together to pave the way for a sustainable and prosperous future for Goa’s farmers and exporters.

The discussions also highlighted the growing status of organic farming in Goa, upcoming revisions for benefiting local farmers, and the identification of top Goan agricultural products with strong export potential.
