Guirdolim village Sarpanch Sonia Fernandes, along with former village Sarpanch Agostinho Antao, on Friday called on the South Goa District Collector, Egna Cleetus, IAS, with a plea to rectify the addresses of the voters in the village in the enumeration form.
The duo later told the media that the District Collector has assured them that the election officials will rectify the addresses of the voters at their end without the voters being put through hardships to fill up the necessary forms.
Their visit to the District Collector, who is also the District Electoral Officer, assumes significance as nearly 70 per cent of voters have been incorrectly listed as residents of Cavorim-Chandor in the enumeration forms, even though they live in Guirdolim.
“The wards affected are Pockemoll, Anthoi, Bausbhat, Folli, Colloss (Part 6 and 7 of 34, Cuncolim Assembly constituency), which was brought to the notice of the BLO, who advised us to fill Form 8, which we refused, as the mistake is made by the Election Office,” they said.
Antao had earlier made a plea before the Salcete Mamlatdar with a request to help the villagers by correcting the mistakes by inserting Guirdolim instead of Cavorim–Chandor in the enumeration form.
Villagers had also warned that they would not submit any forms unless the Election Office provided written assurance that the mistake would be rectified. “The Collector has assured us that necessary changes will be made in the addresses of voters in the enumeration forms,” Antao added.
