Firemen engaged in firefighting operations at a Malbhat house.

A major fire engulfed a residential house at Malbhat-Margao on Monday evening, resulting in significant damage to the structure.
The Margao fire brigade rushed to Malbhat at around 6 pm after receiving a call. Since a major portion of the house was on fire, the fire brigade sent an SOS to the Verna fire brigade to join the firefighting operation.
The household goods damaged in the incident.A total of three fire tenders were pressed into service to bring the fire under control. Most of the household items were destroyed in the fire.
Margao Municipal Councillor representing Malbhat, Sidhant Gadekar, told the media that he, along with local youth, joined the firefighting operations by safely removing the LPG cylinders from the house. He said the fire spread to the house through the wooden false ceiling.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
