450 Goan students studying at Cuncolim campus

There’s good news in store for students from Cuncolim and surrounding areas intending to pursue engineering as their career.
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Thursday has announced that the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Goa campus located at Cuncolim has started training programme for the IXth and SSC students how to secure admissions to the NIT Goa campus after they pass out their HSSC examination.
That’s not all. Saying that around 450 Goan students are currently studying at the NIT campus, Cuncolim, the Chief Minister exuded confidence that the enrolling of Goan students will rise to 700 in the near future with proper training on admissions and guidance.
Taking a dig at critics complaining that the NIT campus at Cuncolim have not benefitted the local youth in terms of employment and admissions, the Chief Minister pointed out that the NIT administration has assured him that the institute would make it a priority in recruiting locals in the next phase of recruitment. The Chief Minister, however, has expressed satisfaction after being informed that around 450 Goan youth are presently studying at the NIT campus, Cuncolim.
“We have a vision for the next 25 years. Is this not a proud feeling that around 450 Goan students are studying at the NIT Goa campus. But, I want to see that figure increasing to 700 in the future. In this regard, the NIT administration has informed me that they have started a training program to guide school students how to get admissions in the institute after they pass out their HSSC examination”, he added.
The Chief Minister said he would instruct officials of the education department to take the school students from Cuncolim and surrounding areas to the NIT campus at Cuncolim just to get a feel of the place.
