No shortage of LPG or petrol: CM assures public

PANAJI: Panic at petrol pumps and LPG dealers across Goa prompted Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to assure the public that supplies are sufficient.

Speaking after today's cabinet meeting, Sawant said domestic LPG supplies are being maintained and urged residents not to book additional cylinders unnecessarily.

For commercial users, he said 20% of the gas supply has already been allocated, with another 20% to be released once businesses apply for PNG connections. “The quota will reach 40% for commercial establishments. Supply will remain smooth,” he added.

Sawant noted that Civil Supplies Secretary Sanjiv Gadkar is closely monitoring LPG dealers, who are required to deliver cylinders within 15 days of booking. He added that consumers with complaints can contact the secretary directly.

Addressing petrol supply concerns, the Chief Minister said stocks currently cover eight days and appealed to the public to avoid queuing at pumps. “We are coordinating with the Government of India, and I expect the remaining issues to be resolved within the next eight days,” he said.
