A youth from Uttar Pradesh but residing in Tiswadi suffered serious injuries when a fire broke out while he was filling petrol from a bottle into a two-wheeler in Candolim on Saturday evening.
According to reports, the incident took place at about 3 pm, when Fardeen Ahmed’s scooter had run out of petrol.
He managed to procure petrol in a bottle and while he was pouring the petrol into the tank of his scooter, a fire broke out.
Ahmed suffered injuries to his hands and feet, while the scooter was also damaged.
He was moved to the Mapusa District Hospital with 30 per cent burn injuries and he was later referred to the GMC hospital for further treatment.
It is believed the fire started when petrol from a bottle fell on the silencer of the two-wheeler. Calangute police are conducting further investigations.
