Scrap yards and industrial estates, besides railway stations and bus stands have come under the radar of the Police in South Goa district following recent reports of foreign nationals heading to Goa.

District Police Chief, Santosh Desai told the media  on Monday that police officers including Sub-divisional Police officers headed by DySPs and police station in-charges have been directed to intensify patrolling to check the movements of suspicious persons in their respective areas.

He said the drive will primarily focus on railway stations and bus stands, besides the check points are considered the entry points for outsiders into the state.

“The drive  to check the antecedents of those working at the scrap yards and industrial estates have begun. Special attention is being paid to the railway stations and the bus stands. The Goa police has drafted police personnel to travel on the South Western railway trains running from Collem to Vasco to check suspicious persons”, he said.

Saying the drive has been initiated following instructions received from the police higher-ups, Desai said the drive will continue non-stop by police officers and personnel in their respective police station jurisdictions
