Public grills officials on SIR process

Election officials take questions over the SIR exercise at a workshop organised by the Catholic Association of Goa in Margao on Monday.

MARGAO
Anxious citizens posed a host of questions to election officials over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) currently underway in the State as they expressed their concern over the deletion of voters from the electoral rolls.
An election team led by Sidharth Shanke attended an awareness workshop organised by the Catholic Association of India on the SIR in association with the office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Goa. It was held at the Clergy Home complex at Margao.
The session involved detailed and insightful explanations by the South Goa Assistant Electoral Registration Officer (AERO) Ana Rita Paes and Siddharth Shahane, BLO, Fatorda Assembly constituency. They provided detailed guidance on how to correctly fill out the SIR forms, highlighted common difficulties faced by the public, provided steps to rectify the difficulties and explained the necessary steps to ensure accurate submission.
CAG had earlier organised a similar workshop in Panjim for its North Goa members.
CAG President Cyril Fernandes stated that the organisation had approached the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer and met the Chief Electoral Officer Sanjay Goel, IAS, seeking guidance and assistance in filing the SIR forms for the members of CAG and the Catholic community at large.
The Margao event was coordinated and moderated by Melwyn Fernandes, CAG Vice-President (South Goa). Every parish from Salcete had deputed one representative for this programme. The awareness workshop saw active participation from the audience, with numerous questions and doubts raised. All concerns were thoroughly addressed by the resource persons.
