Moments before curtains came down on campaigning in Goa at 5 pm on Sunday, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant addressed a press conference flanked by both the BJP candidates -- Shripad Naik (North) and Pallavi Dempo (South) -- where he said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has done more for Goa in the last 10 years than any previous regime.

Thousands of crores of funds were provided for the development of Goa, he said.

"He (Modi) developed the entire country, including Goa," Sawant said, adding that while in the Congress era the country had just 230 medical colleges and 74 airports, today there are more than 700 medical colleges and 150 airports functioning.

Sawant said, the Prime Minister made the people's dream of an 'Akhand Bharat' come true.

"A grand Ram temple was built in Ayodhya and terrorism was dealt with an iron fist," Sawant said, while also highlighting Modi's 'good governance' mantra to impress on the electorate to support the BJP candidates.

"He has built the foundation for a developed India. In order to fulfill this dream of a 'developed India', it is necessary that a government under his leadership is formed again at the Centre," Sawant said, even as he appealed to Goans to elect both the BJP candidates.

Sawant also alleged that the Congress seeks votes in the name of caste but the BJP does it in the name of development even as he claimed that some Congress leaders are still plotting to create a divide on caste and religious lines.

Sawant also said that the Congress always gives Goa second-class treatment. To back his argument, the chief minister said Rahul Gandhi could not find time to campaign in Goa for the Congress candidates but he had time to come here to pick pet dog pups.

"This shows that the Congress always gives second-class treatment to Goa," Sawant said.

'SC, ST, OBC with BJP'

Only BJP has given justice to Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST) and Other Backward Classes (OBC) in the State because of which these communities will continue to support the BJP in the Lok Sabha elections on May 7, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said.

Sawant said, Prakash Velip, Speaker Ramesh Tawadkar, Art and Culture Minister Govind Gawde, and Sanvordem MLA Ganesh Gaonkar are ST community leaders who are with the BJP.

He appealed to the ST community not to believe those who he said are attempting to mislead them.
