CAG finds lapses in RND and many depts in Goa

The Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report tabled in the Goa Legislative Assembly has exposed several financial lapses across various government departments and agencies, resulting in cumulative losses running into crores of rupees.  The departments like RND, Excise, CCP, GTDC, etc., on part of its findings on inefficiencies and violations in the functioning of public offices, calling for greater accountability and corrective measures.  With regard to the pending arrears, the CAG had also highlighted 12 departments have not provided information on their outstanding revenues. The CAG report is not only pinpointing flaws, shortcomings, irregularities and lapses but suggestions and recommendations also in order to overcome the areas of deficiencies so that the intended objectives could be met.  In Goa, pothole roads, irregularities, recruitment scams, indicate that the government is enjoying the cream of taxpayers money. During the Vajpayee government, the scam involved in purchasing coffins for the soldiers who were martyred in the Kargil war was exposed by the CAG. CAG exposing scams like 2G spectrum, Commonwealth games and coal auctions affected the coming of the second UPA government.
