This year's Diwali eve seems to have seen new lows amid hooliganism in name of Narkasur celebrations. While the reported incident of a vehicle of a complainant being set ablaze with firecrackers at Honda (Sattari), right outside the police outpost, is a matter of grave concern; high decibel pollution disturbed many in places like Panaji and St Cruz. It is a grave error on part of those attempting to justify this unruly behavior in the name of "celebration". Such loud and chaotic celebrations involving DJ music, drunken brawls and disturbance to public peace have no place in Hindu culture. Sudin Dhavalikar seems to be right in opposing the Narkasur events. It is high time that our youth celebrate festivals without violating laws.
