The great IT delusion

There is an arrogant delusion among Indians that the US economy and IT industry exist because of Indians. If that were true, Bengaluru would have been Silicon Valley and India would have been the centre for innovation and tech.

Indians prosper in the US not because of India, but because of the opportunities, ecosystem and freedom the US provides. We are not the backbone of the US economy. At best, we are cheap labour that plugged into their system. The innovation, capital, and risk-taking culture are theirs. The Indian ecosystem is labour arbitrage and the US is innovation.
