Will extending sound curfew and music ban help?

ARWIN MESQUITA, Colva | 11th August, 07:24 pm

There are reported moves by the Goa Government to extend the sound curfew and music ban beyond 10 pm  Whilst Goa is a tourism state which needs sound/music relaxation there are also residents and particularly the elderly, sick and children, who should be taken into account and have the right to proper  living.  Goa also appears to be a lawless state where existing laws are violated and no proper no sound zones like for example in Colva guesthouses, restaurants with music seemed to allowed anywhere including in residential areas. There needs to be strict no sound zones and  sound management policy (including transparent systems of monitoring) in place first before any curfew is extended. Currently with 10 pm curfew, Music goes well beyond it even to early hours of the morning so if the curfew extends to 11/12 pm will noise pollution not go even further with the help of corrupt police and compromised politicians?
