To simplify the Digital KYC process, the government must adopt quick, user-friendly methods that allow people to complete verification from home, using a mobile number linked to Aadhaar. This integrated system can help at least 80% of citizens complete KYC without hassles.
Individuals need only their Aadhaar and PAN cards, along with a mobile phone registered with Aadhaar to receive OTPs. Before starting, users should ensure their device has a working camera, microphone, and location access, along with a stable internet connection.
For selfie and video verification, clear visibility is essential -- avoid shadows, hats, dark glasses, or anything that blocks the face. Citizens can complete Aadhaar e-KYC either online through OTP verification or via Aadhaar’s paperless offline method. Many banks and financial institutions already use UIDAI’s online KYC service, where users enter their Aadhaar number and authenticate with an OTP.
Government departments should adopt this fully digital system instead of calling citizens to offices or sending officials door-to-door for verification. Such a shift will not only save time and resources but also ensure better reach and transparency.
KYC means “Know Your Customer,” but for government services it should mean “Know Your People”—making governance truly for the people.
