Assembly needs Oppn for real debate

The current BJP government in Goa is dominated by former Congress MLAs who betrayed the people’s mandate by switching sides in the name of development.

Vijay is right—both Congress and BJP are now sailing in the same boat, and blaming only Congress MLAs now in the BJP cabinet is pointless.

The BJP has effectively become a Congress clone. What stands out about Vijay is that, when in opposition, he genuinely fights for Goa and its people, often winning their hearts. Both Vijay and Yuri never miss a chance to hold the ruling government accountable.

Meanwhile, MGP MLA Sudin consistently supports Marathi over Konkani, yet his constituency keeps re-electing him—this remains puzzling.

The Chief Minister must understand that a healthy opposition is vital to meaningful assembly sessions. Discussions and debates help bring issues to light.

Indian politics is strange—while leaders argue fiercely in the house, they mingle freely outside, attending each other’s personal and family events as if nothing happened. This is the political theatre we see today.
