Assembly session has turned into a fish market

Ronnie Dsouza, Chandor | JULY 23, 2025, 12:49 AM IST

The Monsoon Assembly session began, and on the very first day, it turned so noisy that it looked like the elected representatives were in a fish market. MLAs and ministers were shouting and talking over each other during discussions while people across Goa and the world watched the live telecast on TV and online. How will the problems of Goans be solved if the government does not listen to the opposition? Is this why the BJP is buying MLAs from other parties so that no one dares to question the government in the Goa Assembly? We elected MLAs to raise and solve the issues of Goa in the assembly, not to create a tamasha. We have sent you to the assembly to protect Goa and Goans, not to sell Goa to outsiders. Shame on those MLAs who do not know how to respect and follow the discipline of the house. Your greed for money and power has taken away your sense of humanity, and many of you are behaving worse than animals. Please solve the problems of Goans with love, not by fighting with hateful words. Do not simply warm the assembly chairs and waste time cracking silly jokes, making yourselves a joke in front of the people.
