Callous neglect of roads, deadly risks to commuters

I am a senior citizen, 81 years of age and without fail I read and view the photographs published in the four English dailies circulated in Goa. I wish to stress that in no other year before have I viewed in all the dailies at least 30 photographs of potholed roads in Goa during this monsoon season till today. Throughout the length and breadth in Goa, potholes in Goa were like death traps that made driving and riding almost a nightmare for the people. Such was the condition of certain roads that even two wheelers could not navigate around the potholes making it thus very difficult to manoeuvre. Even in Panaji many of the roads were difficult to negotiate due to potholes, in particular the roads around Panaji KTC bus stand were a sore sight and now that the monsoon season is over at least I hope that potholed roads are asphalted. It should be stressed that many near fatal accidents occurred in Goa in several places due to pothole ridden roads. As the tourist season is approaching, the PWD authorities should take up this matter with utmost urgency.
