There are many TV anchors also now known as Godi media due to many reasons as they do biased reporting as per the you tube channel anchors and this mainstream media often call opposition unscrupulous politicians making reckless allegations against the Election Commission, knowing that it lacks the power to prosecute. The Constitution clearly defines the EC's role. Politicians and Godi media feel that Rahul Gandhi is becoming a anarchist, which is not good for Congress. The same thing was done done by the BJP when they were in the opposition raising 2G scam and many other scams through which the UPA government was dislodged. Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar should not have responded in haste to Rahul Gandhi. He ought to have examined whether the allegations levelled carried any merit and then issued a written response. The credibility of the office like CEC must never be allowed to diminish. The Election Commission is meant to function as an independent, (autonomous body ) and there should be a mechanism to ensure its accountability. An external non - governmental authority should oversee the appointment of CEC and other key officials.
