High decibel noise late at night should be curbed

High decibels above 40 db are a health hazard and it is medically proven as most of the dance clubs in the north coastal belt like Calangute, Candolim, Anjuna and Vagator use loudspeakers which create a noise level above 40 db which is hazardous to the health of senior citizens, chronically ill, babies and students preparing for exams. After repeated complaints from residents they reduce the noise levels to a certain extent.  Then after a few days they again increase the noise decibels which is unbearable especially when they are close to residential areas should be strictly curbed in the interest of public health and peace of mind. The people of the north coastal belt will express a sigh of relief after learning of the letter from Union Environment Minister Bhupendra Yadav to Chief Minister Pramod Sawant categorically rejecting amendment of the Noise Pollution (Regulation & Control) Rules for any further relaxation to any State citing World Health Organisation (WHO) guidelines.
