LPG pilferage amid crisis outrageous

Kudos to the vigilant residents of Guridolim in Chandor village who caught three HP Gas agency employees allegedly stealing gas by transferring it from one cylinder to another during delivery. With ongoing Iran–US tensions causing shortages of gas cylinders, citizens are already struggling to obtain cylinders at high prices. Such actions by agency staff from Margao only add to public frustration. Customers expect transparency and honesty. Exploiting the sentiments of ordinary people during difficult times can lead to immediate backlash.

Reports also suggest that some Bharat Gas cylinders contain a watery liquid with a foul odour, indicating possible malpractice. Employees are allegedly stopping in remote areas to siphon gas using pipes, which also delays deliveries. The lack of weighing machines and proper monitoring makes such fraud easier. Authorities must act swiftly to ensure fair distribution and maintain public trust. Citizens should also be prepared for shortages due to the Iran–US situation and consider traditional wood-fire cooking, especially in village panchayat areas, to cope with these challenging times.
