How can the EC, which is the issuing authority for Voter ID card claim that is not a reliable document to ascertain identity?
A stand alone voter ID Card may be fake, but the whole process is a lock-and-key arrangement.
A Voter ID Card has a photograph taken by the EC and the exact same photograph and details are published by the EC in the electoral rolls.
This is only possible because the Election Commission has exclusive powers / wherewithal to create a Voter ID card and simultaneously access the voter database, it then inserts the unique relevant information on it.
Thus, a voter ID card can only be fake if on searching for the EPIC number, the database does not throw up a result.
