Techno, laser and vibes alien to I-Day celebrations

The nation celebrates Independence Day on August, 15 as a solemn occasion to remember all those freedom fighters and selfless leaders who have worked hard and sacrificed their precious lives to attain freedom from the British yoke. But in Goa places like Vagator and Anjuna will reportedly stage their own version of “freedom” which will be measured not in speeches, hoisting the national tricolours or singing patriotic songs but with techno, laser, vibes, bass drops and strobes. Independence Day should be a day to think about of our past and resolve to build a better future for our country. This day serves as a platform for dialogue about the values enshrined in the Indian Constitution, such as justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity. As citizens celebrate their freedom, the importance of democracy and active participation in nation-building comes to the forefront. Independence Day celebrations should feature traditional dances like Bharatanatyam, Kuchipudi, Kathak, and folk dances, showcasing India's rich artistic heritage. Cultural programmes involving various art forms can bring people from different backgrounds together, promoting a sense of unity and shared identity. Nightlife, partying, techno music, vibes, laser and psychedelic lights seems out of place in Independence Day celebrations.
