The State government through a circular has made participation in June 21 event (marked as International Yoga Day) "compulsory" for all employees of government, semi-government and corporations in Goa. The circular also says that if the employees are not able to come to the office then they should look out for a common place either temple or school in their place and participate. And a picture should also be sent to the head of the Department. The whole idea of the State government making its employees participate in this 'all-India' event on June 21 seems not to promote yoga but to display their loyalty towards PM Modi. Well, the government should stop turning International Yoga Day into a cheap 'tamasha' to distract Goans from its own major failures by politicising this grand event to further its own political agenda . Yes, if the government is really bothered in the well-being of its own employees then it should dare to bring a permanent ban on the sale of alcohol, junk fast food, etc.
