That's not what we wanted to hear, but the fact remains that certain water bodies in Goa are highly polluted. This was revealed by the Goa State Pollution Control Board's latest annual monitoring report for 2024-25. However, those water bodies are fouled by toxic metal contents, such as arsenic, cadmium, lead, copper, chromium, nickel, zinc, mercury, iron and magnesium. Infact, it's a high stake situation which increases the likelihood of harm to primarily aquatic life and the surrounding areas. Once the ecological imbalance prevails, the negative impact is much more extensive and is really detrimental to the well-being of the local populace. Prompt action is needed from the authorities concerned.
