After nearly 17 days, the workers trapped in under construction tunnel at Uttarkashi were rescued by rat miners. The tunnel collapsed on November 12 and nearly 41 workers were trapped inside with no access. However the expert team and machinery did not work but rat miners-- a team of 12 rescued the workers successfully and are given credit for the same. Goa's two youth Asif Mulla and Amogh Gadekar as mining engineers were also among the rescue team who played a major role in the operation. The 41 workers trapped could be bought back alive with efforts for 17 days hard work after rat miners took over the operation and completed it in 26 hours. We are proud that our Goans have been part of the rescue team who could save lives of 41 workers and gave a big relief to their family members.
