World ready to move on without America

The Trump administration's recent attempt to bar Harvard University from enrolling international students has created significant uncertainty for Indian students, both current and prospective.

Parents worldwide are wondering whether America could soon lose its spot as the most preferred destination for those seeking higher education.

For decades, the US marketed itself as the pinnacle of academic opportunity and global meritocracy. Although a federal judge has temporarily blocked this decision, the situation remains fluid and concerning.

Frankly speaking, international students aren’t just economic contributors. They are future scientists, entrepreneurs, and change makers.

Many of the innovations the US flaunts today are the result of immigrant minds shaped by its universities. To pretend otherwise is willful blindness.

As the US grapples with internal policy debates, other countries are stepping in — positioning themselves as the new guardians of global academic ambition.

The moral high ground, long claimed by the US in matters of freedom and opportunity, now looks alarmingly hollow and the world has taken note of it.
