BJP politician Michael Lobo who himself clearly fooled Goans bigtime on getting elected on one party ticket and then jumping to the ruling party; recently accused another political party of fooling Goans on the stoppage of land sales in small Goa to those from outside the state.
Coming to the point, the core issue is that at the rate Goa's land is being sold the State will no longer be in the hands of Goans; so what is all this hypocritical talk of celebrating Statehood Day for Goans! Take for example the controversial agricultural bill where they could have put in some strong clauses (within their scope) but for obvious/selfish reasons kept in loopholes/provisions to pass the Bill! There are States in India which have much stronger laws to ban/restrict sale of land for genuine reasons. With the BJP in power in the State and Centre, why is it difficult for the party to also pass laws to protect Goa as India had committed to the United Nations when Goa was taken over by India (that Goa's unique identity will be preserved by India)!
