It was unfortunate event at Shirgao when devotees and "dhonds" were ready to go near fire - homkund  after getting a dip in water at nearby lake. The tradition is that dhonds get themselves purified in water lake nearby and then walk on live burning firewood. Six of the devotees died due to stampede as they fell and  around 70 got injured. The said event is unfortunate and incident is first of its kind after so many years of traditional homkund. Government had made tight security arrangements with drone cameras  to detect the untoward incidents  with police force in civil dress. The police were successful in catching 6 persons who were trying to commit theft. But inspite of such arrangements somewhere the crowd management went out of control. It's not right to blame  government for what happened but those who participate should take care not to create chaos and should follow a proper queue system. Hope temple committee and devotees take proper care and precaution in future. Also there needs to be proper crowd management with first aid facility and shops should not be allowed in homkund vicinity.
