The present need of electricity in Goa is around 600 MV. Once the Tamnar project is completed, this requirement can be easily fulfilled by green energy. And this can lead Goa to become a 100% green energy State, stated Arun Sharma, CEO and director at Resonia Ltd, while speaking to Prudent Media at the India Energy Week 2026.

Stating that Tamnar project is an ideal example of PPP model, Sharma underlined that many of the issues will be resolved if the project reaches from Karnataka to Goa.

"India is a major promoter of clean energy. An ambitious goal has been set to produce 500 GV Akshay Urjaa capacities by 2030. The government policy regarding this goal is highly appreciable. We are lucky to have a prime minister like Narendra Modi who is a visionary. He always encourages such initiatives. We are marching ahead towards our aim of 'Vikasit Bharat'. We are taking crucial steps towards becoming a self-sufficient nation," said Sharma.

The total non-fossil fuel energy capacity of the country is 50% more than the overall established capacity, which itself is an important milestone in the transformational journey towards clean energy. The next phase of India's energy development is focussing on the optimisation of present infrastructural facilities including Smart Grid Technology, assimilation of Akshay Urjaa and to create enough infrastructural facilities to meet the increasing demand. Special thrust will be given on the rapidly growing industrial and urban areas.
