Guess what exactly the irrepressible Nileshbab Cabral conveyed to all and sundry after he publicly expressed his reservation over a Cabinet reshuffle in the run up to the Lok Sabha polls? Well, Cabralbab harped on merit before dropping any minister to make way for the Congress turncoats. With reports doing the rounds that the BJP leadership may adopt a formula that a Christian MLA will have to make way in the event Congress turncoat Aleixobab Sequeira finds a place in the Pramodbab Cabinet, political observers wonder whether Cabralbab was trying to convey a message whether Nuvem or Curchorem would give more votes for the BJP in 2024 polls. Any questions?
Non-desilting of Chinchinim water bodies’ issue rakes up
When a Chinchinim panchayat delegation submitted a memorandum to WRD Minister Subhashbab Shirodkar, listing a host of works, someone was overheard asking how come the village nullahs, ponds and other water bodies have still not been de-silted till date. For, ex-Velim MLA Filipe Neribab had presided over the affairs of the WRD during his long stint in power. An opponent of the former Minister wondered why Chinchinim had to knock the doors of Subashbab to take up works when their very own MLA had presided over the department over the years. Interesting, isn’t it?
Narkasura competitions and politicos’ scheme of things
Narkasura competitions hosted on the eve of Diwali offer a platform for artists and budding youngsters to showcase their talent towards the meticulous preparation of the effigy, its decoration and painting. And, it also offers a platform for politicos to share the dais to convey a message who’s with whom in the political scheme of things. Welcome to Fatorda, where the Shri Krishna Vijai Utsav competition patronised normally evokes huge audience and politicians as well. Wait and watch whether Vijaibab has invited any politicos this time round.
‘Goodwill’ money taken for protecting polluting units
Scribes covering pollution at the Cuncolim Industrial Estate over the years will narrate how unscrupulous elements used to knock the doors of the owners of polluting units to extort money whenever pollution is highlighted by the media. That money was being extorted from the units under the guise of offering protection to the owners is not something new. Much water from the polluting units has flown down the rivulets over the years. Sources in the know inform that “goodwill” money is now being demanded by vested interests from the polluting units? You know why?
Vociferous MLAs remain mum on ‘defunct’ DPCs
Failure to convene a meeting of the District Planning Committee (DPC) for South Goa makes reading interesting. For, not a single meeting of the district planning body has taken place since the panel was notified in July 2021. More shocking is the plain fact that not a single MLA or MP from South district has ever demanded convening of a meeting of the crucial planning body. Even the vociferous amongst the MLAs seemed on a mute mode, including MLAs from South Goa, who kick-started their career via the Zilla Panchayat. Any questions?
