It was a week when Pramodbab Sawant’s loyal foot soldiers, the men-in-khaki fanned out to Saxttidom as reports did the rounds in the social media that 15-plus ruling MLAs were holed up in a Cavelossim-based starred resort. Apparently believing in the proverb there’s no smoke without fire, Goa police officers and personnel called all and sundry, to check the veracity of the reports and to find out the resort where the ruling MLAs were reportedly holed up going by the social media reports. By the way, Cavelossim Sarpanch Dixonbab’s phone reportedly did not stop ringing since the last two days with politicians, police and the press anxiously trying to reach out to him to confirm the news. Any takers
Aleixo’s lone induction into Cabinet raises eyebrows
Around a week after ex-PWD Minister Nileshbab Cabral stepped down from office to make way for Congress turncoat Aleixobab Sequeira in the Pramodbab Sawant Cabinet, mystery continues to surround the sudden political development in the ruling dispensation. Goemkars haven’t still digested the BJP claim that the party has honoured the commitment to Aleixobab Sequeira made 14 months ago. Is the ruling dispensation trying to say that only the Nuvem MLA was given a commitment for induction into the Cabinet? Many a question still remains unanswered.
Will Sudin swap Power for PWD portfolio?
In the midst of the emerging political developments in the ruling dispensation, a million dollar question has come to the fore – will Power Minister Sudinbab Dhavalikar swap his Power portfolio for PWD at a time when the Centre has promised to sanction Rs 1,000 crore for Goa’s power infrastructure. When Congress turncoat Aleixobab Sequeira was inducted in Pramodbab Sawant cabinet on Sunday, many believed Dhavalikar may surrender Power in return for the PWD portfolio. Will Dhavalikar give up the PWD portfolio when he is on the job to tone up power infrastructure worth hundreds of crores of rupees? Wait and watch.
Supporters wary of Kamat not given Cabinet berth
Supporters of Congress-turned-BJP Margao MLA Diggu were left to wonder after the BJP leadership inducted Aleixobab Sequeira in the Cabinet on Sunday. Many a party worker anxiously tried to figure out what went wrong for the Margao MLA, who had led the eight Congress MLA group into the saffron brigade last year. While some wondered how come Diggu has missed the bus on Sunday, an ardent supporter seemed to have not lost hope, saying their Baba may be called upon by the BJP leadership to play a bigger role. What exactly was the Diggu supporter trying to convey. No prize for the right answer.
Ajgaonkar still holds sway over Margao market in Kamat’s fiefdom
His plans to unseat Diggu from his fiefdom might have come a cropper in the 2022 Assembly election. Former Dy Chief Minister Babu Ajgaonkar, however, was back in action to prove a point or two that his writ still runs large in the Margao Municipal owned-Gandhi market. He not only shut down the market, but his diktat that no tambdi bhaji from Karnataka will be allowed entry into the Gandhi market was obeyed without a whimper of protest. That he insisted that MMC Chairperson Damubab Shirodkar act independently instead of taking Diggu’s instructions only raised eyebrow that there’s something more than meets the eye over his morcha to the Margao civic body.
