Khaunte fills in minister’s void in Salcete with ease

GUILHERME ALMEIDA | MARCH 19, 2023, 01:00 AM IST

Tourism Minister Rohanbab Khaunte is no stranger to Saxttidom. He used to often descend in Saxttidom during his stint as Revenue Minister in the Manoharbhai Parrikar regime. With no Minister from Saxtti in the Pramodbab Sawant dispensation, Rohanbab seemed not averse in playing his role and fill the void in the absence of a Cabinet Minister from the taluka. This became apparent during his Prashasan Tumchea Dari programme in Saxtti. Rohanbab not only fielded issues at the programme with ease, but has promised to do the follow up on the issues and return back to Saxttidom. Any takers?

Khaunte wriggled out of question over jobs, but...

Chief Minister Pramodbab Sawant’s Prashasan Tumchea Dari programme in Saxtti threw up a contentious question for the government to handle -- how come most of the jobs in the Health department headed by Minister Vishwajitbab Rane have gone for Valpoi? This question was raised by a citizen at the Prashasan Tumchea Dari programme in Salcete. Tourism Minister Rohanbab Khaunte might have wriggled out of the embarrassing situation. Participants at the programme, however, were overhead in pointing out that busloads of workers from Valpoi are dropped and picked up every day at the South district hospital. You know why.

Speculations over Digambar, Aleixo induction before Assembly session

Speculations were rife in Saxttidom during the weekend whether the saffron brigade will induct Saxtti heavyweight Diggu and Aleixobab in the Cabinet ahead of the ensuing Assembly session. It’s now around six months since the eight Congress MLAs had defected to the BJP on September 14 last. When Tourism Minister Rohanbab Khaunte visited Saxtti as part of the Prashasan Tumchea Dari, Diggu was on a vacation in the UK. Heavyweight Aleixobab Sequeira was with Rohanbab along with other Saxtti MLAs. Will the long wait for the heavyweights be finally over? Wait and watch.

When Vijai got Governor to visit Lord Damodar temple at Fatorda

Goa Forward chief Vijaibab Sardesai tried to score some brownie points during Governor P S Sreedharan Pillai’s Heritage yatra to Fatorda. The governor was scheduled to visit the Holy Spirit Church to have a glimpse at the “Maddi” tree before heading to Quepem. The Goa Forward chief, however, managed to get the Governor visit Lord Dambab’s Linga Temple in his backyard. That’s not all. After Pillai acceded to Vijaibab’s request, the Goa Forward workers moved swiftly to ensure his close aides assemble at the temple, especially those who had joined the regional party by quitting the saffron brigade. Any questions?

Did Tagore conduct post-mortem on Cong 2022 poll debacle?

Even as Goa Congress desk in-charge, M Tagore attended the Party’s Political Affairs Committee (PAC) during the weekend, a section of the Congress has wondered whether any post-mortem was done on the party’s 2022 electoral debacle and if yes, whether any course correction has been done since the last one year. This section of the Congress has further sought to know whether the party has identified the factors behind the Congress defeat in the ZP-bypolls, especially in Davorlim where the minorities form more than 50 per cent of the electorate. Indeed time for introspection.
