Leaders of non-BJP parties seem to have their task cut out – how to counter Chief Minister Pramodbab Sawant’s diatribe against them for opposing the Mhaje Ghar scheme. For, the CM is leaving no stone unturned to accuse the Opposition for having obstructed the controversial scheme both within and outside the Assembly. With the government launching the Mhaje Ghar scheme constituency-wise ahead of the upcoming elections, and the Chief Minister going hammer and tongs at the Opposition, the Opposition parties will now have to chalk out a strategy to counter the CM and the saffron brigade. Wait and watch.
Vishwajit’s ‘Oppn leaders in touch with BJP’ claim fuels speculation
What was TCP Minister Vishwajit Rane really trying to convey when he publicly stated that certain Opposition leaders are in touch with ruling party members? Jr Rane’s remark has only raised more questions — who are these Opposition leaders, and what is their agenda in maintaining contact with BJP leaders? Moreover, are these interactions limited to Goa’s BJP leaders and ministers, or do these Opposition figures also share a rapport with central party leaders? Many questions indeed remain unanswered.

After new sarpanch’s election, Raia’s power centre in question
As Raia got a new Sarpanch, Minguelina D’Souza, earlier this week, political observers are now busy figuring out who really controls the Raia Village Panchayat — Independent Curtorim MLA Reginaldo Lourenco, or a group of panchas aligned with BJP ST leader Anthonybab Barbosa? Take note: the Curtorim Independent MLA is a coalition partner in the BJP-led dispensation and currently heads the prized Goa Industrial Development Corporation (IDC). No sooner was Minguelinabai elected the new sarpanch, BJP South Goa District President Prabhakarbab Gaonkar rushed to extend his congratulations. Interesting isn’t it?
Damu’s law and order charge on Congress raises eyebrows
BJP State President Damubab Naik’s statement blaming the Congress for the deteriorating law and order front makes reading interesting. After all, the last Congress government that ruled the State from 2007 to 2012 was headed by none other than Congress-turned-BJP Minister Digambarbab Kamat. That’s not all. If Damubab wishes to delve further into history, former Chief Minister Pratapsingbab Rane holds the distinction of having ruled Goa for one of the longest periods. And let’s not forget the late Ravibab Naik. Is Damubab suggesting that these former Chief Ministers heading the Congress governments are to blame for the current law and order situation in Goa? Well, we’ll just have to wait and watch.
