It’s still isn’t clear when will the Women’s Reservation Bill will come into force, whether in the 2027 Goa Assembly polls or the polls scheduled in the year 2032. That, however, has not stopped the political heavyweights and politicos of all hues to assess the ground reality. Some of the politicians are even believed to have gone on a fact finding mode, to check whether their fiefdoms would be hit by the reservation bug under the rotation system. Wait and watch who amongst the 40 legislators would face a knock out in the first round of implementation of women reservations.
After book launch, all eyes on Luizinho’s next move
What’s next for Luizinhbab Faleiro, is a question the ex-Rajya Sabha MP and former Chief Minister may have to answer as he launched his book on the battle for Goa’s twin aspirations to make Konkani the official language and Statehood. After he quit the Mamata Didi-led TMC party earlier this year, Luizinhbab was preoccupied in penning the book on Konkani and Statehood. He plans to pen a couple of more books on his role in unveiling policies on employment, labour et al during his stint in power. Will Luizinhbab be content in launching his books, or will the exercise provide a platform for the veteran to return back to electoral politics. Wait and watch.
Comeback? Filipe Neri holds weekly interactions in Sirlim
One former Minister who is under the scanner of local political activist is none other than ex-Velim MLA Filipe Neribab Rodrigues. If sources are to be believed, Filipe Neribab is back in action, holding his weekly interactions with the people at his Sirlim residence. Just a little over a year ago, Filipe Neribab had suffered his worst electoral defeat in the 2022 polls, with the former Minister finishing fourth on the ladder. Political observers have been frantically trying to figure out whether the former WRD Minister has drawn up plans for a comeback in politics or whether his interactions are just a part of social work.

When GPCC chief Amitbab Patkar descended in Congress-turned-BJP MLA Diggu’s fiefdom Margao earlier this month to burn the effigies of the eight defectors, he lost no time in unveiling plans to set up party office in Margao. In the past too, Amitbab had announced plans to personally take charge of Margao in the political scheme of things. Goa Forward chief Vijaibab Sardesai is believed to have called up the official to verify the allegations, only to find the official evasive.
