During the outgoing term too, DyCM Babu Kavlekar, hailing from Quepem was bestowed the privilege of unfurling the Tricolour at Margao despite the fact that Saxtti had a Cabinet Minister in Filipe Neribab Rodrigues. Wait and watch how the government goes about the job this time round.
Sardinha snubs Churchill’s plan to contest South Goa LS polls
When Varca strongman Churchillbab did not rule out the possibility of contesting the 2024 South Goa Lok Sabha election, sitting Congress MP Francisbab Sardinha’s reaction was swift that the former MP will have no acceptability amongst the people. Reason: Sardinha believed that Churchill will contest the LS polls only to split votes for the BJP. Observers, however, in private say whether the Churchill factor will play any role in the South Goa polls will be known only after the BJP and Congress finalises its candidates. By the way, Churchillbab may have to answer a question or two why he plans to contest the LS polls when he had gone to the public sometime back that the BJP would win both the LS seats. Saxtti’s lone Minister Aleixobab Sequeira descended in Fatorda after being sworn in as a Minister in the Pramodbab Sawant dispensation after long time friend, Goa Forward chief Vijaibab Sardesai drew his attention to the non-functioning garbage plant in his constituency. That the new Environment Minister lost no time to inspect the garbage plant with Pollution Control Board’s officials indicates the relationship between the two neighbouring MLAs from Salcete. Has the BJP controlled Margao Municipal Council anything to say?
Venzy’s statement against MMC chief raises eyebrows
The Margao Municipal Council has finally started lifting away the waste dumped in neighbouring Benaulim. Eyebrows, however, have been raised in local circles over Benaulim MLA Venzybab’s statement that the Margao civic chief Damubab Shirodkar ordered the waste dumping in Benaulim even after being told by Margao MLA Diggu not to do so. Venzybab’s statement has become a talking point in the corridors of the Margao Municipality and outside, with political observers trying to figure out whether Diggu had indeed informed his Benaulim counterpart that the MMC chief ordered the waste dumping despite his advice or is there any attempt in certain quarters to make Damubab a scapegoat. Wait and watch.
When Vijai rushed to rescue of Nilesh on PWD jobs issue
Outgoing PWD Minister Nileshbab Cabral should be certainly pleased with Goa Forward chief Vijaibab Sardesai. Reason: When the outgoing Minister had come under the scanner over the PWD job recruitment process, the Goa Forward chief rushed to his rescue. Vijaibab publicly conceded that a couple of candidates from Fatorda have been selected for the PWD jobs, but without payment of any money to anyone. Vijaibab’s statement that went viral on the social media must have come as a big relief for Cabralbab. You know why.
