Churchill Brothers FC will take on Sreenidi Deccan FC in the second round of the I-League at the Deccan Arena on Sunday, December 1, 2024, with kick-off at 4:30 pm. Both teams will be looking to bounce back after drawing their opening matches.
Churchill Brothers played out a 2-2 draw against Shillong Lajong FC in their opener, and now aim to secure their first win of the season to strengthen their chances of advancing to the next round.
General Manager Aditya Barros stated that their Cypriot coach, Dimitris Dimitriou, is thoroughly analyzing Sreenidi Deccan's strengths and weaknesses in preparation for the match. “Our preparations have been good, and we are focused on getting a positive result despite the challenges we face. I have full confidence in the team’s ability to perform at their best,” Barros said.
Barros acknowledged the impact of certain challenges, particularly the absence of key players, but emphasized that there is still a chance to turn things around. “We are not looking for excuses, but some circumstances have affected us, including missing important players. However, we still have a chance to make our supporters proud,” he added.
He also shared his determination ahead of the match: “I am fully prepared for the Sreenidi game. The key to getting back on track is hard work and improvement. To our Red Machine fans, I can only promise that we will give our best to achieve better results in the upcoming matches."
Sreenidi Deccan FC, who finished in second place last season, will be aiming to pick up as many points as possible from this fixture after their own opening draw.
“Sreenidi Deccan FC are a very strong team with a good coach and talented players. It’s going to be a tough challenge, especially in an away match, but we are confident in our squad and are ready to give our best,” Barros noted.
Regarding the availability of key players, Barros mentioned that Juan Mera is currently nursing an injury, and the coach will assess his fitness ahead of the match to determine if he will be able to play.
