Former India midfielder Climax Lawrence is one of the six former players co-opted to the AIFF executive committee as per the draft constitution. He said that all of them would work together and look for the betterment of football. Bhaichung Bhutia, I M Vijayan, Shabbir Ali, Climax Lawrence, Pinki Bompal and Tababi Devi are the six eminent footballers on the executive committee.
Lawrence was an Indian international football player, currently playing for Dempo Sports Club. He plays as an attacking midfielder and is considered to be one of the best midfielders in the nation. Lawrence has represented various well-known football clubs as well as the Indian National Football team in various international football tournaments.
In the year 2002, Stephen Constantine, the coach of the Indian National Football team invited Climax Lawrence to be a part of the national football team. Since then he has been constantly donning the national colours and has represented the team in a number of tournaments and matches.
Climax has to his credit the feat of scoring the winning goal in the 91st minute of an AFC Challenge Cup match played against Afghanistan in July 2008. The goal scored by him helped India register a 1-0 victory over Afghanistan. Climax Lawrence becomes the first Goan footballer to be co-opted into the All India Football Federation (AIFF).
