Geno Football Club has appointed experienced coach Francisco Bruto da Costa as the new head coach of its senior team ahead of the upcoming season, marking a major step in the club’s evolution toward professional footballing excellence in Goa.

A native of Margao, Bruto da Costa brings with him an extensive resume that spans both domestic and international football. He holds an AFC Pro Licence, the highest coaching certification issued by the Asian Football Confederation.

His career includes key roles with the Indian national teams and Indian Super League clubs such as SC East Bengal, NorthEast United FC, and Kerala Blasters. Internationally, he has worked in Malaysia, Bangladesh, Egypt, and Vietnam, most recently with Cong-Viettel FC in Vietnam’s top league and the Egyptian national team alongside coach Carlos Queiroz, working with players including Mohamed Salah.

Joining him in the dugout is Joyner Antao, who will serve as Assistant Coach. Antao, formerly with Sesa Football Academy, is known for his focus on youth development and his deep involvement in Goa’s grassroots football scene.

Speaking about the appointment, club owner Dr Sagar Salgaocar said, “Francisco’s experience and deep understanding of Goan football make him the ideal person to lead our senior team. We’re equally excited to have Joyner on board — together, they bring a powerful blend of tactical expertise and local insight.”

Geno FC CEO Sanroy D’Sousa echoed the sentiment, noting that Bruto da Costa’s appointment aligns with the club’s long-term vision. “His tactical acumen and professional standards will help us build a strong, competitive footballing institution.”

Bruto da Costa expressed excitement about his new role, saying, “I’m honoured to take on this responsibility. Geno FC’s commitment to talent development and building a professional football culture resonates with me. With Joyner and the support of the management, we aim to build a team that not only competes but also inspires.”
