Rumi Printer and Ajit Sail rallied from behind to win the veterans 110+ doubles finals defeating Sanjay Ashar and Jaydeep Wakankar in three tightly contested sets in the ongoing Gadre Gaspar Dias Open 2023 tennis tournament, while Rafik Khotu defeated Mahesh Keshav (6-3, 6-4) in the finals of the veterans 60+ age category.
Rumi and Ajit lost the first set 4-6, before claiming the second 6-3 and overcame a tough challenge from Sanjay and Jaydeep to win the final set 10-8 to win the final. In other semifinal matches which were held at the Clube Tennis de Gaspar Dias and Panjim Gymkhana courts, Rafik Khotu beat Senthivelan (6-4) and Mahesh Keshav beat Manoj Chandiramani (6-4) in the veterans 60+ singles, while Amit Tambe defeated Ashwin Chandok (6-0) and Hemanshu Vernekar beat Narendra Pawar (6-1) in the semi-finals in the veterans 45+ singles category.
In the veterans 120+ doubles semi-finals, Rafik K/Manoj C beat Bharat/Ansari (6-2) and Rumi/Vijay beat Amit Tambe/Prashant Tambe (6-1). In the veterans 35+ mixed doubles semi-final event, Prithvi Naik/Atika Gaur beat Kshitij Garg/Anjali Philip (6-3).
The Gadre Gaspar Dias Open 2023 tennis tournament’s open category matches will begin on January 30 and conclude on February 5.
