Goa girls win U-14 tennis-ball cricket championship

The Goa girls' team triumphed in the 9th Under-14 Mini National Tennis Ball Cricket Championship, held from August 16 to 18 in Sholingur, Tamil Nadu. The team emerged victorious after a decisive win over hosts Tamil Nadu in the final.

In the semi-finals, Goa beat Maharashtra by 7 runs. Batting first, Goa scored 50 for 2 runs in 6 overs, with notable contributions from Pooja Rathod (27) and Ayushi Shrivastava (15). Maharashtra, in response, managed 46 for 6 in 6 overs. For Goa, Ayushi Shrivastava (1/9), Teja Velip (1/2), and Pooja Rathod (2/7) were the top bowlers.

In the final, Goa squared off against Tamil Nadu, who batted first and posted a score of 24 for 3 in 6 overs. Sanika Bhosle and Pooja Rathod contributed with the ball (1/5 and 1/2, respectively) for Goa. They chased down the target with ease, reaching 25 for 2 in just 2.1 overs, thanks to a swift 17-run knock by Ayushi Shrivastava and a 4 not out by Latishya. Goa won the final by 6 wickets.

The Goa boys' team, unfortunately, was eliminated in the quarterfinals of the tournament.
