Goa University inter-collegiate women's football kicks off

The Goa University Inter-Collegiate Football Championship 2025–26 for Women commenced today, featuring a series of competitive matches at the Goa University Ground and Rosary College Ground.

Six matches were played on the opening day, with two teams receiving walkovers.

In the inaugural match at the Goa University Ground, Sant Sohirobanath Ambiye Government College of Arts & Commerce, Pernem registered a convincing 3–0 victory over Padre Conceição College of Engineering, Verna. Maeve Rodrigues opened the scoring in the 17th minute, followed by a brace from Arpita Malekar in the 20th and 50th minutes.

In the second match, Government College of Arts, Science & Commerce, Quepem edged past Parvatibai Chowgule College of Arts & Science, Margao with a narrow 1–0 win. The decisive goal came in the 51st minute, courtesy of Merlyn Mascarenhas.

The third match saw Government College of Arts, Science & Commerce, Sanquelim being awarded a walkover as Ganpat Parsekar College of Education, Harmal failed to turn up.

At the Rosary College Ground, Don Bosco College of Engineering, Fatorda, Margao secured a 1–0 win against Dempo Charities Trust’s S.S. Dempo College of Commerce & Economics, Cujira, Bambolim. The lone goal was scored by Raynel Dias in the 15th minute.

In the second encounter, Cuncolim Educational Society’s College of Arts & Commerce, Cuncolim defeated Narayan Zantye College of Commerce, Bicholim by 2–0. Velinda Fernandes scored in the 22nd minute, and Selly Gracias sealed the victory with a goal in the 59th minute.

The final match of the day saw Fr. Agnel College of Arts & Commerce, Pilar being awarded a walkover after Agnel Institute of Technology failed to participate.
