The Goa women's team entered semi-finals whereas the men's team entered the quarter-finals of the 34th Senior National tennis ball cricket championship, at Mh. Sathak College of Engineering, Ramanathapuram, TN, on Monday
The women's team defeated Maharashtra by 7 runs in the quarters. Batting first, Goa posted 47 for 4 in 6 overs. Deesha Kamli (12), Amishya Shetgaonkar (19) and Alisha Akarkar(9) were the main contributors. In reply, Maharastra could only amass 44 for 4 in 6 overs. Santoshi Tuyeker (9/1) was Goa's most economical bowler in the second innings.
In the men's pre-quarter final, Goa won by 51 runs against Western UP. Batting first, Goa scored 77/6 in 8 overs. Suraj Velip (13), Gauresh Khandeparkar (11) and Vijay Halgekar (27) contributed to the total. Western UP were bundled out for 26 runs in 7.2 overs. Goa's Gauresh Khandeparkar (7/2), Kannayya Gaude (7/1), Vijay Halgekar (6/1) and Satyavan Velip (1/1) restricted the opposition.
