Guardian Angel SC and Cortalim Villagers SWSC played out a hard-fought 0-0 draw in their Goa Professional League clash at Nagoa Ground on Monday.

Both sides had chances to break the deadlock in an evenly contested encounter. Guardian Angel went close early when Preston Castano forced his way into the box and struck goalwards, only for Cortalim goalkeeper Passang Sherpa to tip the effort onto the crossbar. Cortalim responded soon after when a defensive lapse presented Norman Dias with an opening, but Suman Lepcha’s timely goal-line clearance denied the visitors.

Set pieces and quick transitions shaped much of the first half, with neither side able to find the finishing touch as the teams went into the break scoreless. After the restart, Guardian Angel enjoyed spells of control in midfield and tested Sherpa again through Moises D’Sa, but the keeper remained alert.

Cortalim pushed late in search of a winner, committing men forward yet Guardian Angel’s defence stayed organised to see out the contest ensuring the points were shared in a balanced goalless draw.
