Guardian Angel SC, Curchorem booked their place in the final of the 1st Antonio Colaco Memorial Football Tournament with a commanding 3-1 victory over hosts Mandopa Sports Club in the semifinal held at Rosary Church Ground, Navelim on Wednesday.
Guardian Angel got off to a strong start with Mildroy Menezes opening the scoring in the 9th minute. The lead was doubled in the 20th minute by Jaison Dias, giving Guardian Angel a comfortable 2-0 cushion at half-time. Mandopa had a chance to pull one back before the break, but Ronaldo Pereira’s powerful shot from inside the box went off target.
Mandopa pushed hard in the second half, creating multiple chances, but the Guardian Angel defence stood resolute. Their efforts finally bore fruit in the 31st minute when they were awarded a penalty, which Ronaldo Pereira successfully converted to make it 2-1.
However, Guardian Angel sealed the win in the 43rd minute when Mildroy Menezes completed his brace, finishing a well-placed pass from Cyril Dias to make it 3-1 and secure their spot in the final.
Mildroy Menezes was named Man of the Match, with the award presented by GFA referee Caitano Pereira.
