Fc Goa and Calangute Association played out a 1-1 draw in the GFA Goa Football Association at Duler Stadium, Mapusa.
FC Goa now moved to 12 points from eight games and stayed in 6th position while Calangute remained in 5th spot with 12 points having played a game less.
After playing a midfield battle for nearly 20 minutes, FC Goa had the first real chance of the game when a long ball from midway found Delton Colaco and with just the keeper at his mercy, he failed to connect his shot. There was hardly any action in the first session as FC Goa created their second chance of the game in the 43rd minute where Vellington Fernandes tried his luck from distance only to see the shot being easily collected by the keeper.
Calangute got their first corner of the game in the additional time but the delivery was collected by FC Goa keeper Hrithik Tiwari. In the 47th minute Delton Colaco played a square pass to Malsawmtluanga, but his shot was easily collected by the keeper.
Calangute finally took the lead in the 51st minute where Johnson Carret ran down the right flank and sprayed a pass in the box where Pandurang Gauns made a timely run to poke the ball past the helpless keeper. Calangute nearly doubled the lead at the hour mark from a corner kick where Jovito Fernandes connected to the flagkick and his perfect volley was pushed out of the frame by FC Goa keeper Hrithik. The ball came back to Jovito, whose second attempt was easily dealt by the keeper.
At the other end, FC Goa scored the equaliser in the 66th minute when Vellington Fernandes sent the ball to Malsawmtluanga who smashed in past the keeper to restore parity. FC Goa had a chance to seal the game when Lalhp sent an aerial through pass to Vasim Inamdar, who was lone on goal. But his lob shot which beat the keeper also beat the goal.
