Parish Youth Nuvem booked a place in the quarter-finals after defeating Dicarpali Sports Club 3–1 via the tie-breaker in the inaugural match of the 31st Mandopa Cup football tournament, organised by the Mandopa Sports Club and played at the Mandopa Ground on Monday.
The match began with early chances, as Joywin Costa of Parish Youth Nuvem missed a scoring opportunity in the fifth minute. Dicarpali Sports Club came close to taking the lead just before halftime when Francisco Colaco’s header from inside the box went narrowly wide. With both teams failing to capitalise on their chances, the first half ended goalless.
The second session produced several exciting moments, with both sides creating opportunities, but neither could find the breakthrough. The match remained deadlocked at 0–0 at full time, forcing the contest into a tie-breaker.
In the shootout, Parish Youth Nuvem converted their chances through Shenoy Colaco, Frazer Miranda and Royston Mascarenhas, while Dicarpali’s only successful attempt came from Aeron Figueredo, sealing a 3–1 win for Nuvem.
Joywin Costa of Parish Youth Nuvem was adjudged Man of the Match and received the award from Damaciano Mascarenhas, a member of the Mandopa Sports Club.
